【Everyone is working from home, but does everyone actually want to work from home?】
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, government departments have implemented a work-from-home (WFH) arrangement for civil servants since February, with many enterprises following suit. Online discussions about the difficulties and challenges of working from home have been frequent. uMax Data used Social Listening technology to collect online sentiment data from February 1 to March 1, and analyzed the discussions using its AI big data system xMiner. The analysis revealed that the biggest challenge for netizens working from home is related to "environmental" issues.
✦Working from home is challenging; the work environment is the most troubling.✦
63.7% of people discussed the poor "environment" at home, such as being too cramped or not having their own room, which makes working difficult. Over 60% of the discussions were related to this issue, indicating that the most concerning problem for everyone is the environment when working from home.
The discussion on "data security" comes second, accounting for 24%. Most people focus on privacy and security when company data is exchanged during remote work, and they are also concerned about the security issues of certain remote work software.
Another focus of discussion is "network" and "communication," accounting for 6.7% and 5.7%, respectively. The former mainly involves complaints about unstable home networks, which hinder stable work, while the latter reflects concerns about difficulties in communication among colleagues. These two points receive relatively less attention, indicating that fewer people experience related difficulties.
✦Discussion on Work-from-Home Efficiency: Working Hours Receive the Most Attention✦
In discussions related to work efficiency, "time" is most frequently mentioned. Many people talk about how working from home blurs the line between personal time and work time, leading to an increase in working hours.
Many terms related to applied technology are frequently mentioned, such as "technology," "computer," "mobile phone," "program," and "tool," indicating extensive discussions on electronic products that enhance work-from-home efficiency.
Additionally, from the word cloud, terms such as "laziness" and "management" can also be observed, indicating that maintaining employee work efficiency is a significant concern.
