How will netizens use the $5,000 electronic consumption voucher?
The registration deadline for the first round of $5,000 electronic consumption vouchers expired last Saturday, and many merchants have seized the opportunity to roll out promotions. However, the main topic of discussion has been how to choose among the four electronic payment providers. uMax Data analyzed the past few weeks' data using social listening (Social Listening) to gauge netizen's opinions on the registration for the consumption vouchers.
Electronic Payment FaceBool Page Performance
Among the four dedicated pages, Octopus was the most active in promoting the electronic consumption vouchers, having published a total of 38 posts, which amounts to nearly two posts per day. Additionally, the engagement levels for its posts were quite impressive, with its average attention score being the highest among all, indicating high INTERACTION performance. Its average heart reaction response was even twice as high as the second-highest page. The post with the most heart reactions was a promotional video featuring Ian Chan Cheuk-yin.
Tag & Go, however, was the least active among the four pages, with its number of posts being about half of Octopus'. Although its attention score ranked second, its average number of angry reactions far exceeded those of the other pages, possibly reflecting a more negative interaction situation on its page. Some netizens were dissatisfied with the long wait times required when logging in or setting up accounts.WeChat Pay has the lowest average likes, but its average Attention score is more than half lower than other pages, which may indicate that its total interaction on the page is relatively low, which is not an ideal situation.
Online discussion: Octopus far outshines its rivals
Among the four electronic payment providers, Octopus has a discussion rate of over 40%, far exceeding other competitors. Alipay and WeChat Pay are equally popular, both reaching 20% of the total. Tap & Go has the least online voice, less than 15%.
Internet users are most looking forward to buying "daily groceries"
What will netizens tend to spend their e-vouchers on after receiving them? Among the major consumer categories, the discussion on "daily groceries" accounted for the largest proportion, reaching 70%, reflecting that most netizens are concerned about how to use the vouchers to supplement their daily household expenses. Related discussions include using vouchers in supermarkets and markets. In addition, netizens are most concerned about "transportation" and discuss the most convenient way to pay for transportation. As for other categories, such as "electronic products", "food" and "entertainment activities", the online voice volume is less than 10%, reflecting that most discussions focus on daily life consumption, and the enthusiasm for additional entertainment consumption is relatively low. ————————————————————–
