【2020 Policy Address】 About to be Released: Which Topic is More Popular, Lantau Tomorrow or the Hong Kong Health Code?

Hong Kong uMax Data takes the lead in analyzing current online hot topics using big data and finds that discussions mainly focus on three major themes: "Lantau Tomorrow," research on voting by Hong Kong residents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Hong Kong version of the health code.。

We analyzed relevant discussions from October 1 to 9 using the network big data platform xMiner and conducted a comparative analysis between the pro-establishment and non-establishment camps. It was found that the pro-establishment camp's primary focus was on "healthcare," which included advocating for the Hong Kong government to promote a Hong Kong version of the health code to facilitate the resumption of travel between Hong Kong, mainland China, and Macau as soon as possible and to accelerate the revival of Hong Kong's economy.
On the other hand, the non-establishment camp is most concerned about the news of the Hong Kong government studying voting in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which has sparked significant discussion within the non-establishment camp.
Additionally, "education" has also become one of the focal points for the two camps, with much attention surrounding recent controversies over teachers' conduct. Meanwhile, the announcement of the two-year "Lantau Tomorrow" project has also been a very popular topic online.
Observing the popular posts online, four out of the top five hottest posts are related to voting news in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Among them, the post by "華爾街狠人" (Wall Street Tough Guy) garnered the highest engagement, with an exceptionally high number of "angry" reactions, similar to two other media posts, far surpassing the number of other Facebook reactions and likes. The pro-establishment camp also expressed opinions on this matter. A post on the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong's (DAB) page about cross-border voting ranked fifth among hot posts and received a considerable number of likes. The fourth most popular post, published by "Speak Out HK," was related to "Lantau Tomorrow Vision," and included discussions about the project's cost.
